Portrait Photograph
In this photograph, there is a young woman gazing off into the distance, and poses a look of conflict in her features as she contemplates something. She is sitting and the background is shaded in light. The work is figurative. The photo was shot from a frontal position wherein the model is posed toward the left facing the light resulting in a shadow cased across the right side of her face. This image creates complexity in an otherwise plain piece. The image is in focus in order to accurately display her conflicted features. I was tying to convey an image of conflict and contemplation where the subject is adversely facing toward the light, however some small image of darkness is following her and making her wonder. The white background poses to strengthen the meaning of the piece and the focus on the subject. Overall, I believe the meaning of my piece was lost in its simplicity, and with a stronger stance or pose on the models part, the message would have been more prominent.
